Antiguo Banco Español
San Juan, Puerto Rico
The Antiguo Banco Español (Old Spanish Bank) is located at 152 Tetuan Street, Old San Juan, in the historic district of Puerto Rico’s capital city. Overlooking San Juan Bay, the building represents one of the best examples of architecture built during the final stages of Spanish rule, and housed what many consider to be one of the first institutions to issue paper currency in the island. The property was acquired by the Conservation Trust of Puerto Rico in 2006, with the goal of restoring the building in order to use it as its centralized administrative offices.
